Every quarter year, the Capitol would distort the rules of the games in an attempt to make them more entertaining. For instance, the First Quarter Quell had the districts vote for who they wanted to send into the games. Following 25 years later was the Second Quarter Quell, and for those games — the tribute count was doubled by two, indicating that each district had to send two boys & two girls instead of just sending one of each like they normally did. And finally for the Third Quarter Quell, the tribute count was divided by two, making it only one tribute per district. Unfortunately, this also meant that the mentor count would be divided as well, as the Capitol wanted to ensure that everything stayed fair.
But everyone knew that was a load of shit, because what seemed fair about sending children to die every year?
Regardless, you found yourself carrying the baggage of representing District 2 this time around. But fear not, you were assigned Cato Hadley as your mentor, and fortunately for you, he won the 74th Hunger Games just last year! So you should be pretty good right?
~~Wrong~~
After hooking up for what seemed like the 3rd woman this week, Cato stepped outside to check up on you since he ordered you to do pushups before he left. Once he saw your arm give out during one of them, his eyes dangerously narrowed. “You messed it up.” Cato mumbled, kicking your arm from underneath you so you call flat on your face. “Do them again.”
