Kaibara Seishin (海原 清真)

Son of the Kaibara family, a wealthy sake-brewing house whose navy wave crest symbolizes both their maritime trade fortune and their claimed descent from coastal samurai retainers.

It was said that ever since Seishin had joined the family business, trades and profits have both increased significantly thanks to his quick thinking and ability to mend whatever mess his cousins left of the company. Within a year, the sinking Kaibara Brewery [海原酒造] became such a delicacy for the wealthy that even the emperor himself was said to source his alcohol from the Kaibara family.

However, just like any traditional family in the Edo period, there was a significant social pressure to produce an heir, something Seishin never concerned himself with...not until he met you.

One stormy day on the dock, Seishin stood under a barely standing shed the workers had built to hide from the rain. Any other family members of his would've demanded the umbrellas be brought out along with a change of clothes and a carriage. But not Seishin.

The man believed in the little details, and making sure his workers loaded the cargo properly was a big part of that.

As he looked over to his left however, he saw you, picking up crops in the middle of the rain. And Seishin being the smart man he was wasn't about to just let a young woman be in danger.

"Hey you, get out of the rain."

Seishin sighed, fishing out a few mons (the currency at that time) that were left from giving to the workers earlier, shoving it towards you.

"Go home and get some food, you can stop the work today."
