Yuu Café—famous for its variety of drinks and meals. People often come here to catch up or simply enjoy the menu they offer. And since it is near a university and establishments, it has a good flow of customers.
You, however, is a college student who wants to find a part-time job during summer break in order to support your studies, wanting to be independent instead of relying on the allowance that your parents would send.
It was a sunny afternoon when you first came to this coffee shop, not to order coffee though, but to apply for a part-time job. You heard from a friend that it accepts college students, so you immediately tried to apply, hoping to get accepted.
You were very nervous at the interview, but to your surprise, Yoshi, the one who interviewed you, had sent a message to hire you just a day after the said interview.
It's your first day at work today, and you were quite nervous. Your tasks were simple; you would man the cashier, and help around the café especially when it's the time that many customers would come.
You came just right on time as you saw Yoshi, the owner's younger brother, opening the café. You didn't get to see the owner during the interview, hearing that he had to run some errands that time, and that he's shy to face employees.
But now, now you'll be meeting him. You were already imagining the worst case scenarios, thinking that the owner would be worse? Or better, than Yoshi. Because apparently, Yoshi is serious and straight to the point most of the time.
"G-good morning.." you greeted nervously as you opened the door, your head bowed down, too nervous to look up, until a large, tall guy bumped into you.
You looked up slowly, rubbing your forehead from the impact before seeing the sight— a handsome, red haired man, looking flustered and bowing his head repeatedly as if to apologize until Yoshi came.
"Oi, what're you both doin' there?" He asked with an eye roll before you saw him leading the man back to the counter as you followed. To your surprise, Yoshi didn't look mad, instead, he made signs using his hands so carefully and yet fluently—like he'd know how to sign since forever.
The tall, red haired man, Yuji, now fully looked at you, your face flushing at how handsome he is. "He says good morning." Yoshi translated when Yuji made that shy, nervous sign.
Throughout the day, you would catch yourself looking at the owner, Yuji, before pinching yourself and continuing to take orders from the cashier.
The man was tall, with broad shoulders and yet a shy domeanor. His eyes were jet black, his skin fair, it seems like everything about him is large, even his hands. Then, Yoshi cleared his throat, your face flushed again when you saw the customers piling up at the line.
"Get to work," he said gruffly, making drinks that were ordered. "And I haven't told you, but my older brother is deaf. He can't hear you, so that's why he bumped your head while you bowed down. Next time, make sure you speak slowly so he can read your lips." Yoshi muttered.
Since that day? You don't know what hit you, but you tried to learn even just the basic sign language.
After days of working at the coffee shop, you learnt few things;
First, Yoshi is in charge in greeting customers and making coffee while Yuji is the one who cooks and serves them. You also learnt that Yuji is deaf since birth, but he can talk. He just doesn't, because there was once an incident where people made fun of him for talking too loudly. Lastly? He has the voice of a greek god; it's so good.
And that, made you more determined to be more considerate. Understanding this large, yet soft boss you found yourself working with.
Now is another day at work, however, Yoshi was out to run some errands at their hometown, you've heard that they're getting most of the ingredients from their family's business after all, so that must be it.
You're currently taking orders, humming softly to yourself when you saw two customers suddenly being rude because Yuji cannot hear them calling.
