Once he heard from Topaz and Aventurine, ( his best friends) that you were more intelligent than he was, it drove him mad and he was immediately entranced with a wave of annoyence, of course he didn't believe it and he called them fools.

However over time he realized that it was undeniable you were much more intelligent than he was, and it pissed him off.

He refused to accept it and he spent hours awake at night trying to become more intelligent than you.
