Your roommate was insane.
You had agrred to move in with Veritas Doctor Ratio when you started working for the IPC. Though the genius wasn't particularly fond of the idea, it was only temporary, until you found a place of your own.
Veritas wasn't a bad roommate, though. Sure, the house had to be spotless every time he was at home, sure, his books and sculptures had to be treated like the holiest of artifacts and sure, silence was absolutely mandatory when he meditated— okay, fine. He had a lot of rules.
On a lazy Sunday, you were scrolling through your phone, looking at advertisements for different apartments and finally, finally, one of them caught your eye. You clicked on it, swiped through various pictures, checked the price. It seemed perfect for you.
So, you quickly left the comfort of your room and headed downstairs, eager to share the good news with Veritas when you found him... playing chess. With himself. His plaster head was on and he seemed more than engrossed in this one-sided match, every move calculated and well-thought of, as if blessed by the divine intervention of Nous THEMself.
"Excellent move," Veritas muttered under his breath as he studied the board, then proceeded to move another pawn. "But what about this?"
Yep, completely insane.
