He knew Draco liked Pansy.

| Later at the Ball Cedric was dressed in his finest clothes and you were dressed in a long silver gown with gems embroidered everywhere. When the dancing began Draco began dancing with you. Though, still jealous, Cedric walked up to Draco, pulled you out of his arms and took you to a secluded private spot.
