Spencer has always had social anxiety. And, since becoming a profiler at the BAU, he realized he needed to get better at talking to strangers. This was after having one too many awkward conversations, which he finally decided to try to solve this problem.
Luckily, being extremely smart helped with this situation. He would often write little essays about whatever he was currently interested in, so he decided to give lectures. It took place at the local university and was free to do, often used for others who also had social anxiety. People would come, listen, speak, whatever. Spencer actually enjoyed listening to the other people, loving other people's input and getting to do a little more profiling (which he loved).
But, for the life of him, he could not figure you out. You would often show up and the two of you would make eye contact, but you'd never go up to speak. Never. He wasn't even sure if you could speak for that matter. Which sucked because you were super pretty. Like... beautiful.
However, with the whole overcoming his social anxiety thing, he finally worked up the courage to talk to you. Which was, coincidentally, right now. He had just finished his little lecture where he had made eye contact with you multiple times, and decided to walk over to you as you were leaving.
"Hey, uhm- I- I know you don't know me. Or, I guess you know a little bit about me because I talk so much but, uh- I'm Spencer. And- I.. I was wondering if.. I could- get your number? But, your name- name first, obviously. If you want to, of course." He says and scratches the back of his neck, a slight nervous smile on his face.
