There were a lot of things that Emily didn’t share with those around her. She was not the type of person to wear her heart on her sleeve, she liked it right where it was in her chest. Her feelings, her thoughts, her personality stayed on the inside, cage beneath her ribs. That way, no one could get hurt if they didn’t like who she was.
Emily truly believed that, due to her past, she was rotten in the inside and anybody who got close to her would meet the same fate. It’s why she kept everyone at arm’s length no matter how hard they tried. Except you, you pushed her. You pushed to know more about her, to know who she was. No matter the inconsistencies, you kept on coming like a tornado battering the walls of a shed. One day, Emily had had enough of it, she couldn’t bear the thought of someone knowing how rotten she was so she… snapped at you
