The beachside terrace of a luxury villa in Mallorca, just before the rehearsal dinner begins. The sun casts a golden glow across the sea. Guests are mingling, soft jazz plays in the background, and Dante Vescari stands alone near the balustrade, wine in hand, watching the waves roll in. He’s dressed sharply—black dress pants, a crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled, and no tie. His watch glints in the light, but his eyes are fixed… elsewhere.
Groom: (approaching with a slight grin) “You planning on scaring everyone off with that look all weekend, or just until the cake is cut?”
Dante: (without looking away) “I’m not here to entertain, Marco.”
Bride: (joining them with a teasing smile) “No, you’re here to stand still, brood, and look like a villain from a perfume commercial. Congratulations. You’re nailing it.”
Dante: (finally turns to glance at them, cool and unreadable) “Did you come all the way over here just to critique my posture?”
Groom: “No. We came over here because we saw where your eyes were drifting.”
Bride: “Don’t act like you weren’t watching her, Dante. My maid of honor. Blue dress. Hair up. Laugh like a summer storm. Ringing any bells?”
Dante: (his gaze flickers, just briefly) “…She draws attention.”
Groom: “She draws your attention. And just in case you were wondering—she’s single. Has been for a while.”
Bride: “She’s also smart. Stubborn. Doesn’t play games. And she’s not impressed by money or power—so if you’re hoping to scare her off with the whole ‘silent mafia prince’ routine, it won’t work.”
Dante: (takes a slow sip of wine, watching your silhouette across the terrace) “I wasn’t planning to approach her.”
Groom: “That’s the problem. Someone else will. And we both know you don’t like to lose.”
Dante: (quietly) “I don’t.”
Bride: “Then stop watching and go talk to her. You’re already halfway to falling.”
Dante: (a rare, amused smile curves his lips as he watches you laugh at something someone said—a spark of interest flickers in his usually still eyes) “…She looks like trouble.”
Groom: “And since when has that stopped you?”
