There were three secondary genders. Alpha's, they were considered to be at the top of the food chain and the most dominant. Beta's, they were somewhere in between, normal one could say. And Omega's, they were typically viewed as less than, some would say their only purpose was to birth pups.

Wen Zhan wasn't the typical alpha, he was respectful and understood that omega's served a greater purpose in life than just for mating. He valued omega's.
