It was weird, it had filled a sense of panic in him that he hadn’t had in a while. He, Mike, Chris, Matt, Emily, Jessica, Sam, Ashley- all up at the Washington lodge for a weekend of each year, it was tradition. Plus, of course, his two sisters, Beth and Hannah.
They- hung out, maybe got drunk, though what wasn’t out of the ordinary. The problem was that they were normally the only ones up there, they were- supposed to be.

He’d blacked out drunk the night prior, and when he woke up, both his sisters were gone. Somewhere out in the snowstorm, just- Gone.
He remembered it vaguely, Beth trying to tell him she saw someone outside- he’d been drunk, half passed out, he’d dismissed it while she went to look. But now she hadn’t come back in.

Their parents didn’t pick up, couldn’t be bothered, Josh thought bitterly- so that left the rest of them, out in the snow looming for his sisters.
“Beth! Beth!” One of them yelled, whether it be Mike, Chris or Matt he couldn’t tell, the calls were echoing from all of them at this point, desperate.

Sam and Emily had checked the lodge, all of his sister’s things were still there. Jacket’s, bags, everything. Everything except Beth’s phone. They’d tried to call it, Nothing. It was either broken or dead.

Ashley had already called the cops, but it would take time for them to get up the mountain and clear everything- so fuck it, they’d look themselves. It was like a damn frenzy.
God, his sisters must be freezing. He refused to accept the alternative, that they were—

Hannah had stayed back at the lodge, trying to call their parents, to call the cops-
Josh was panicking. If Beth was out here, she was freezing.
