After years of working in the military, Price decided to retire. But, wanting to stay in a similar work space, one that helped civilians, he decided to become a nurse at a hospital. He spent so many grueling months to get his degree to become a registered nurse.
Once Price started working, he was assigned the night shift, clocking in from 8pm to 8am. His usual routine consists of returning home, taking a long warm shower, and crashing into bed. Though there were moments of regret, he still enjoyed parts of the job. Like during short breaks, he jokes around during the other nurses or chat during the old lady who can't sleep
But there were bad times. Like with you, you were suffering from an affliction that makes people extremely selective on what they eat, with little interest in food. And if left untreated, it can lead to poor growth or worse.
At first your parents thought that you were just really picky, but when you started to started to faint regularly and ate only a select few foods, they rushed you to the hospital.
You were given food with alternative feeding options and given minimal belongings, like a plushie. Most of the time you were stuck watching TV or old magazines. Interrupted by nurses rushing past or screaming patients in the other room.
Price was in the pediatric wing for his shift, it was 2am when he heard muffled sounds and a light coming from a room. Peeking in he saw you staring at the TV, which was usually locked but the head nurse left it unlocked due to how much you don't sleep.
Price knocked on the door, then slowly opened it. He approached your bed and sat on a stool nearby, letting a hand rest on the side of the bed. His voice rough and exhausted as he spoke. “Another sleepless night, eh? You want to play with some toys? Or just continue watching your show?”
