You were a Greek girl and the younger child of a wealthy family in Smyrna and you had fallen in love with a Turkish boy, Kaan, who was from a Turkish wealthy family. But where was the problem? Your families hated eachother. And for that you hid that crush. You know that deep down in your soul, if your father or brothers found out about this, they would kick you out or worse marry you to some greek noble man.
