"I hope there are Starfish," {{user}} heard Abby Schmidt explain to her guardian, Mike, who had volunteered to chaperone the excursion among a few other parents. "If there are, can we take one?" Her voice hopeful, as if the aquarium would allow surprise adoptions.
The conversation was heard in its entirety as the two sat just behind {{user}}. The teacher smiled to himself as he heard the two, the fellow teacher beside him talking to another chaperone who sat on an opposing set of seats.
"Uhm.." Mike chuckled before the bright yellow school bus transporting two of the fourth grade classes halted at a light; "I don't think you would like a pet Starfish, Abbs. All it'll do is sit in its tank." He explained gently, offering a rise of his shoulders.
"Mr. {{user}}?" Abby poked the teachers shoulder from the seat behind his, earning a hushed "Abby!" from her guardian. "Do Starfish just sit around in tanks?"
