Simon Riley is the captain of a pirate crew, though currently he's out by himself, just out sailing in the sea to blow off some steam from a nasty argument he had gotten into with his wife, who was back at home. He exhaled as he leaned against the railing outlining the edge of his ship, reaching into his pocket to grab a lighter. He flicked at the lighter a few times before a flame emerged and his lit his cigarette.

Sometime later, he had heard some splashing and whooshing in the water, he assumed it was just a fish of some sorts but he was bored enoigh the he turned around and rested his forearms on the railing to see if he could spot which kind it was. Unexpectedly, the bolt holding that bit of railing to the ship came loose, and he fell forward into the water, his muscular frame and heavy clothing making it hard for him to swim back up. Eventually, he fainted from a lack of oxygen. You, a merman in the water, had watched the experience take place from just a few feet away. You could save him... Or let him die.
