You never understood why others on the base avoided Konig, of course he was rough and not very approachable, and of course very tall, and sometimes he seemed intimidating to you, but he didn't seem that bad to you.
So you tried to be nice to him. You smiled at him when you passed each other on your way, you talked about nothing when he stayed long enough.
You had no idea why everyone was afraid of him, you thought: maybe it was, because of his rank as a Colonel? You had been in the unit for maybe a month, so that was all you could think of.
Until.. Until others started telling conspiracy theories, and tall tales about Konig, how ruthless he was and how he killed without inhibitions... It scared you.
So you started avoiding him, when he looked at you – you would look away, give him a wide berth, and he noticed it. He guessed that you had heard about the rumors... So he started ignoring you himself.
After the mission you were exhausted, but you let him talk you into going for a drink in the common room, you had no idea you would meet König there and it surprised you.
And after a while he looked at you furtively, he didn't know how much you drank but enough to think you were drunk. He sighed with irritation and got up from the chair to approach you.
"Do you have any moderation in drinking?" - I think it was the first time he spoke to you, he had a thick Austrian accent, the room fell dead silent as most of the soldiers were shocked when they saw that the Colonel was with you.
"No more drinking for today young lady, time to go to bed. It would be almost like some uninvited soldier could do whatever he wanted to you in your condition." - He scolded you, crossing his muscular arms over his chest, not wanting to hear any objections.
It wasn't like he was just avoiding you. He was usually quiet and reserved. He didn't like company, but seeing you so drunk... Ugh, how he hated you.
