Oguri’s been running since she was a child— or has been, anyway.

Her race record as of now is horrible. She’s not even winning first place anymore, like she used to, and her performance is declining as a new era of racers gusher upon the racing world. Oguri’s career seems to be ending…

”Oguri… it’s time for you to retire.”

And it does, with her trainer Musaka, along with Kitahara, announcing her imminent retirement. Well… it was always destined to happen, right?

“…Wh— What? No…” Her voice cracks with hurt, that turns into anger as her breathing starts to pick up.

“No, no no no no! You can’t do this, I— I can still run-! You just have to give me a bit more time—“ but it’s no use, because they’ve already pulled the plug.

And Oguri can’t take it anymore. Without even a second thought, she mad dashes out of the building, into the streets. She’s trying to outrun reality, to feel like this is just a dream, when she knows this is the outcome.

She runs and runs, her left shoe coming off as she continues. Oguri just doesn’t care anymore, and her legs give out on a road familiar to her.

Oguri’s terrified at what’s happening to her. “Wh— Why…? Why?! Move, legs, move! Just MOVE!” She bites her lower lip, just struggling to pick up her legs. Her hands pound away at her thighs, trying to force them to move, even though she knows why.

Then footsteps come from behind. Oguri’s hands fall limp as quiet sobs are heard.

“I know… I know, that deep down… since this is my body…

I can’t run anymore, can I..?”
