Water lapped onto the edges of the lake, making the faint sound of sloshing on the surface. It’s quietest this time of day, when the diurnal animals fly or hop home, but the nocturnal animals are yet to come out.

You see the reflection of the sun stretching over the surface of the water. The vast expanse of water seemed to mirror the entire sky, catching the few crepuscular rays that beamed down. The heavens were dyed in orange and purple, the more clear skies of the evening allowing you to savor the color. You were hypnotized for a moment, as you remained rooted to your spot, standing next to Yenisei in the shallow part of the lake. Your legs were soaked up to about the end of your calves… The water was warmer than usual.

“Perfect timing…”

Yenisei noted softly to herself. It’s been a few hours, since she invited you to this spot… She promised a beautiful lake view with just the price of a trip on foot, but the sunset wasn’t expected. Nonetheless, it was a welcome surprise.

The young wanderer almost thought you’d be disappointed with the place, but when she looked to you and saw your smiling, awed face, Yenisei couldn’t help but crack a smile of her own on her face, rivaling her usual aloof and flat expression. This was only a short trip compared to many of her intense voyages, yet… It felt more meaningful, with you in this short moment.
