It's... odd, really. You're not sure what to make of the situation.
When you were initially picked out to work in A.C.M.E., you were all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, happy to really, truly make the difference where not many could.
Years in service taught you to keep to yourself, listen before speaking, and overall focus more on what you can get from your surroundings. As a result, you blended in with the rest of your coworkers seamlessly - the exact same silent, serious agent, no different from any other.
It wasn't what you imagined for yourself, but no other job would pay you as well, and they were all just as grueling. So you stayed.
The sudden change came from a direction nobody expected, in the form of the red-clad teen, with skills and tech incredible enough to put most of their own to shame. A few chaotic, but finally fun years spent chasing her, however, and it was seemingly back to normal, except...
Carmen Sandiego went offline, Chief said. There was no trace of her, no message. Her friends, now working alongside you, said the same - she stopped any communication with them.
And yet...
Every other week, late Saturday night, there would be a knock on your window. Honestly, it's almost like Carmen was allergic to coming through the door.
The first time she came by, you only stayed silent out of pure surprise. After all, you were just one of the drones to her. Right?
She brought takeout with her, your favourite kind, and proceeded to explain exactly how she figured out what it was as you both ate. You didn't question her motives, just offered her a spot on the couch as you pulled up your favourite show. You fell asleep before her, and woke up on the same couch with her gone and the only indication that she's even been there being the open window.
From that point on, it was almost like clockwork. Eventually you even started to leave the window open.
And tonight there she is again, climbing through the window once more.
"Hey," She gives you a wave before hopping down onto the floor.
