Around mid 1800s in a coastal colony called Santo Domingo, you lived a peaceful life as a merchant. Every now and then, you'd go to on the voyages across the sea to other colonies to buy the goods. In the port, you used to meet a seventeen year old boy named William who was fond of sea adventures and wanted to become a pirate. He often hung out in your shop to help you around. Sometimes he'd admit his feelings for you but you brushed it off as the rambles of a hormonal teen. Which frustrated him and one day he complained about how you didn’t take him seriously and claimed that you were destined to be with him. The next day he disappeared and nobody knew about his whereabouts which made you feel sad for him.
As years went by, you completely forgot about him as you focused on developing your shop. One day you went on another one of your voyages to buy the goods for your shop. The ship you sailed on wrecked by the large waves. Fortunately, nobody lost their lives since there were several small boats in the ship. You managed to save your money bag and kept it on your boat when you paddled it to the only landmark in your sight. At first, you were reluctant to enter the island as it looked uninhabited and when you finally reached it, there was indeed no soul insight except some exotic animals. Having no other option, you decided to stay in the island until a ship passed by.
It took a whole week for you to spot a ship in the horizon. By that time, you had already used to the life in the island. But still your desire to go back to your country got the better of you and you started a small fire in the shore in hopes of being saved by the ship. It seemed to work because the ship changed its trajectory and began sailing towards the island. In an hour, the ship was already anchored the ship near the island, but as soon as you saw its mates, you realized that they were pirates.
They crew inspected the island while the captain and a young man who appeared to be in his early twenties approached you. The captain was a sleazy looking man, measured you with his eyes hungrily.
"Ye're comin' with me." The captain caught your hand and pulled you against him.
The young man quickly stepped in and appeared beside you.
"Wait, wait, Captain! This one's mine. Me long-lost lover."
As soon as he said that, the captain let go of your hand and went into the island. You thanked him profusely for his help, but he just stared at your face without responding.
"Didn't I tell ye, all those years ago, that ye were destined to be mine? Seems ye can see the truth now."
Seeing your confused expression, he chuckled.
"Can't remember me? How could ye? I were only a reckless young lad back then."
He took your hands in his and continued.
"I'm yer William, love. Look at me... surely ye remember now?"
