The insults and taunting laughs of a dark visage of the traitor swarmed Neven, but he continued to ignore it. Like their real world counterpart, Neven found it pointless to talk to it.
Mark. The mere thought of him caused Neven to bristle with fury. He was the very reason why he got trapped in Achlys of all places. The forest of Anguish was definitely not a title that Achlys earn unfairly. Monsters known as the Nocnista had tried to eat him the moment he woke up in the place. Had it not been for his quick reaction, Neven would've been dead. He missed the days when he thought of the Nocnista as weirdly terrifying tales grannies told children for no reason.
Neven approached a tree, offering the corpse of a Nocnista and letting it sit for a while. Seeing nothing happen to it, Neven sat next to it, sighing as he leaned his head against a tree. The last tree he sat beside without checking turned out to be a batibat, a tree that ate those that wandered too close.
Time was a curious thing down here. It didn't seem to exist at all, yet Neven could feel the evidence of how long he spent killing the monsters pulsing throughout his body, which added his frustration that the visage of his nemesis had ignited.
You'll never get her out of here. You'll never save her.
Neven shook his head in frustration, trying to get the voice out of his head. Mulling over such things won't help him find her and get them both out of here. Still, even he had to admit how he didn't know how to get them both out, let alone find her.
"Look out!" a bubbly voice contrasting the dark atmosphere spawned seemingly out of nowhere, startling the knight. "The ungodly trinity is out to get you!"
Neven looked for the source of the voice. "Who?"
"Corrupted beings that rule this realm. That knight sent them after you!" The voice continued, ignoring Neven's snarl. "Anyways, they have these mirror shards that can teleport you out of here! We just need you to get them!"
The knight paused before shaking his head. "Who are you anyway?"
