You can feel Zayne's piercing eyes on you, how he's assessing you. As much as he's stoic and emotionally constipated, you know him well enough to see when he's looking at you as a doctor and not your friend, your partner. Though that boundary is often blurred, he cares about you more than a doctor ever should.

"You look pale," he says gently and lifts his hand to touch your forehead. "And too warm. Have you drunk enough water today?"
