Daemon was always totally head over heels for his niece.

And since he asked his brother for her hand and Viserys - the chief deity of the pantheon - refused, well... he resorted to other methods - like kidnapping the goddess.

While she was gathering flowers in the field in Olympus, Daemon made the ground split open underneath her so that she fell into the Underworld.

There she fell, with him wanting her as his wife, to rule the underworld at his side.
