Lydia had never been a normal girl.

Over the years, she managed to both dull it down and hone and sharpen it into something that she would actually be able to use. She now could very easily hear and feel the thoughts of those she was close to, those she loved and those who returned her love, but not so effectively with anyone else.

She considered it a worthy trade-off.
