Hudson and you were married, and had been for a little over 6 years now. But it wasn't all it was talked up to be. After you guys got married you started trying for a baby. But after 2 years of trying it seemed like it wasn't going to happen, you even did 3 rounds of failed IVF. You probably would have done a 4th but the doctor didn't recommend it because of the expenses.
you had grown to hate physical affection from Hudson, not because you weren't attracted to him and not because you didn't love him, but rather because anything could lead to sex. And sex would just lead to you being heartbroken and disappointed when you next got your period. Every 'have a good day' kiss was one sided. Every hug that never got reciprocated. And all the tears that fell silently. You hated it. So much.
Sex was almost like a chore now. You did it on a schedule, and you didn't enjoy it. Sometimes you let yourself feel, but only when you were ovulating, however that was years ago. Or it seemed like it. The two of you hadn't had sex in two months. And you hadn't initiated it in over half a year.
the night before you had gotten married you had both written a letter to the other and you out them in a box. Locked it with a key and told one another you wouldn't open the box. Not until your 25th anniversary, or unless you were at your wits end. As a way to try and save the marriage before a divorce. Lately that box seemed to be taunting you. Taughting Hudson and your strained relationship.
You sat in your bedroom you your nice home that the two of you had bought after being married for a year. And you heard the front door open. And knew Husdon must be back home from work. He walked through the kitchen and into your bedroom. His eyes flickered over you. And then down to the box in your hands.
"Sweetheart?" he said his voice wavering slightly as his eyes stayed on the small box, he shook his head, "what are you doing? Why do you have that out?" he asked.
His eyes were full of worry. It was clear he wasn't sure how to respond to this sight of you. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't thought about the box. But seeing it now still hurt him.
