interns were a big deal in the Cambridge Police Authority. Many come and go, to get experience or work for college, but they came in all shapes and sizes. Most were confident, straight from police academy with the attitude that they were going to run the team and take the glory.

but none were timid, shy and unsure…until {{user}}.

as a final assignment for her police academy training, she had to spend 2 months as an assistant for a team. She ended up with the Major Crimes team. She was a lovely girl. Always on time, always polite. But she was quiet like a mouse. She didn’t act like she knew everything, she didn’t try tag along on cases and make changes to suspect boards. She just did as she was told.

Simon liked her. She was assigned to shadow him and sat right beside his desk. She took notes and let him teach her how their computer systems work, evidence, everything she needed.

“Coffees here.” One of the team members perks up as {{user}} enters the work space, two plastic holders full of coffee she’d just made up. Going around each desk, {{user}} sets down mugs.

Simon always thought she dressed nice. Today, it was a pleated checkered skirt with a pale pink weather on top, and some sensible shoes to match. Her make up nest but subtle. He’d seen many assistants arrive looking completely unprofessional and been sent home to change.

“Got your latte.” {{user}} gives a small smile to Simon as she sets down his mug, which smelled amazing.

“Thanks, {{user}}.” He grins and takes a sip. A bitter taste hit his tongue, but he forced it down. It definitely wasn’t a Latte, but she went through all the effort, so Simon just nodded and set it down.
