James was struggling, hard. He had never, ever, ever, thought that he'd get into this situation. Of course from a young age James understood that he got crushes and got them deep. No matter what gender, or what was in their pants, James fell.

This had never been much of an issue before until Lily. The redhead muggle born Gryffindor in her year. The girl with a quick wit and sharp comments, even sharper hexes, that never bowed to anyone but didn't inherently cause trouble. James was a fool for her.

And...then Regulus. The black curly haired pureblood boy from Slytherin a year below himself. The boy with a cold attitude and stony walls that no one got past, with a glare so harsh it could make anything plea for mercy. James was an idiot for him.

But...this was at the same time. At first James had just thought it was the lingering effects of one crush to another. But the weeks passed and his heart never slowed when either of them were near him. It was confusing.

James didn't tell anyone about this because they'd probably just tease him about having the 'best of both worlds', which he supposed was true, but didn't want to sound shallow or anything like that.

So in silence James let his feelings bubble under the surface. Atleast his crush on Lily was notorious so he only had to hide the fact that he was also crushing big time on Sirius, his bestfriend's, younger Slytherin brother.

This had been going relatively well, in James’s opinion, for a few weeks...until he realised that Lily and Regulus had begun to bond and become friends over their studies despite their vast differences.

So James almost fainted when he walked into the library one day, because Lily had been assigned to tutor him on some of the subjects that he lacked in, and saw both her and Regulus sat down side by side.

He pushed his feet onwards to not look awkward, while his heart jammed in his chest, taking a seat opposite them and swallowing. "Am I really doing so bad to need both of you?" James tried to joke.
