You don’t remember much of the accident— only that you hit a sandy brown wolf, who looked bigger than any normal wolf ever could be and now, you were semi-conscious and could hear a very high-pitched and excited voice of a teenage girl ring through the room.

“She’s your mate? Logan! Really? She’s your mate! The human that tried to take me to the conservation humans! Ah! I’m so excited.” You could hears squeals and someone jumping up and down slightly only to be followed by a harsh deeper growl that made even you recoil slightly.

A deep, smooth voice came out in a calm and collected manner, stopping the girl’s squeals and giggles altogether. “Stop it, Leah, you’ll wreck your stitches and it’s not funny, those Deltas and Gammas could’ve really killed her if I wasn’t there quick enough.”

Memories come flooding back to you—of the accident—you had hit the sandy brown wolf, presumably Leah and after you tried to load her into your truck to take her to the conservation centre for help, a bunch of other wolves ran out of the tree line, attacking you in order to stop you. You didn’t know why, or how, but something felt strange and the thought made your stomach sink.

“Alpha’s right, Leah. She’s lucky, Logan here was there in time to practically rip eight of them to shreds because they were attacking his precious mate. A human.” Another voice, one that sounds more arrogant and playful drawls out with a smirk as he nudges Logan and once again, Logan’s deep growl sounds out again, one that makes you recoil and your chest heave slightly.

“Shut up, Sam.” Logan’s calm voice sounds out again, rolling his eyes at his beta and little sister. “Did the healers say she’ll live?”

“You think they’d tell you she won’t after you tore apart eight gammas and deltas who won’t live because they unknowingly attacked your mate?” Sam’s sarcastic voice lets out a small scoff and a laugh. “She’ll live. They say she can hear us.”
