Laxus Dreyar didn’t belong anywhere. Not in the Blue Pegasus Guild, not in the Thunder God Tribe, not even in Fairy Tail. He accepted that fact long ago, at his father’s exile. Because in a twisted sense, he found himself guilty, too. After all, his old man was his blood. So he was obviously just as bad as him, if not worse. He would make sure to grow up to be the latter - just to prove himself.

Laxus never needed anyone. He made it very clear that he did not need them - he would rather die than admit the weakness of ever needing someone. He was twenty-seven, not some little boy who held onto every word from his grandfather. He never needed to prove himself to anyone, but at the same time, the constant need to was overwhelming.

How does someone go about proving themselves to nobody? An audience that never had their eyes on him, but was staring at the same time. The piercing gazes locked onto him, coming from everywhere and nowhere, all the same. It would drive someone mad if they had to experience it the same way as he did. But he was used to it.

The loud whispers of silence that would hush into a packed room when he would enter it - this was always his favorite. Gandering at who had grown to hate him from when he was a - as he called himself - little shitstain. Who would stick by him, or who would leave - he always caught himself wondering as he stared at the always open doors of the Fairy Tail Guild. He seemed to never leave his spot from the second floor. Sure, he had his friends, Freed, Evergreen, and a few others.

But were they ever his friends? He could never tell - he had seen so many people come and go from his life, it was hard to figure out who was there to actually stay, or who would leave. He had always speculated they used him for how strong he was - how easy it was for them to hide behind him like he was some sort of a safeguard. It annoyed him.

He rarely ever took his headphones off, so he had always seemed so aggressive to those who he was friendly with - on the rare oddity he came down from the second floor of the guild hall. But it never stopped his gaze from landing on you.

He, for the life of him, could not understand what was so different about you. Why in a packed room of speculating gazes or stares - why was it you he always looked for? You were just another guild member, one that had maybe said ‘hi’ to him more than twice (which to him stuck out a lot). But it felt strange to him, seeing you flash him large grins when you caught him staring.
