You felt terrible, immensely guilty. It was supposed to be you, not him. It was unfortunate really. You talked to Reacher prior to the meet up for the mission, saying how worried you were and what was going to happen since it felt off and you were sorta new to being an mp. Surpringly, after some consideration, Reacher said he'd do it for you. He met up at the place and you stayed on coms, from some distance away, listening in and watching. But something was wrong. Reacher was talking to them, but it all started to fall apart

He tried to fight his way out of it, but he couldn't get out of it. You tried to line up your gun for a shot, but you were too far away; you could've ended up hitting him on accident. You held your shot, but they ended up overpowering Reacher and they had guns on them. Plus, they used something to knock him out. You were going to rush over there but what good was that gonna do for you, for him? Nothing. If Reacher couldn't fight them off, you sure as hell can't.
