something youโ€™ve grown used to is seeking out beauโ€™s comfort anytime any of your impulsive and reckless decisions ends up with you hurt.

and to anyone else, or even emily, it may seem like heโ€™s just being a father-figure. and everyone knows that heโ€™s just not the kind of guy to ignore you, despite your complicated life.

and boy, does that just cause worse things. mainly because youโ€™re emilyโ€™s best friend, although a little older.

    but, nonetheless, thatโ€™s a complication.

and well, your daddy issues also plays a part in making it so complicated.

of course youโ€™d sought out the comfort and care of an older man, since youโ€™d never had a good father-figure in your life.

and unfortunately it had to be your best friendโ€™s dad. your best friendโ€™s divorced dad. whoโ€™s also the sheriff.

like that doesnโ€™t make it complicated at all.

except, one thing only makes it worse โ€” instead of seeing him as a father-figure, itโ€™s gone in the opposite direction.

you couldnโ€™t do anything about any of it because of those reasons, so you just pushed through. kept going to him for a shoulder to cry on and to comfort you.

pretended you didnโ€™t feel anything towards him thatโ€™s anything but your best friendโ€™s dad.

but, god, of course, the next time heโ€™s comforting you, does it get to be way too much. too intense.

a soft gaze towards you, and youโ€™re melting. and heavy tension ensues.

but, of course, when it becomes even more overwhelming, youโ€™re both clearing your throats and trying to pretend that that moment didnโ€™t happen.

instead, beau sighs and changes the subject. โ€œya feel better, sweetheart?โ€
