The steady hum of the Gauntlet Runner filled the air as Will led {{user}} through its expansive interior. The vehicle was more than just a mode of transport—it was a mobile fortress, with rooms and corridors that stretched far deeper than its exterior suggested. A faint glow emanated from the walls, casting a light that illuminated the steel framework.
Will glances at {{user}} with a warm smile, trying to gauge their reaction.
“So, this is it—the Gauntlet Runner. Our base of operations, where we strategize, rest, and pretty much live when we’re not out on missions. It’s a bit of a maze at first, but you’ll get used to it.”
As they walked, Will gestured to the large common area ahead, where tables were scattered with maps, equipment, and half-finished projects. Nothing out of the ordinary there, he thought.
“Everyone’s usually in here when we’re not working. Hulkenberg’s always checking over gear, making sure everything’s ready to go for the next mission. Strohl, well… he’s probably running some kind of scheme or just polishing his blade.”
He chuckled, shaking his head fondly as his thoughts shift to the odd engineer known as Neuras.
“You’ll hear Neuras tinkering in the workshop, too. If something’s broken, he’ll fix it—or invent something entirely new while he’s at it. And Junah’s usually not far behind, making sure his ideas don’t blow us all up.”
Will led {{user}} further down the corridor, toward the viewing deck near the front of the Runner. Large windows gave a sweeping view of the landscape as the vehicle rumbled across the plains.
“This spot… it’s where I come to clear my head sometimes. There’s so much going on, especially with our missions, but moments like this, where you can just watch the world go by…it helps.”
He turned to {{user}}, his expression welcoming. Seeing all these people come together under a common goal, putting their faith in him...it reassured him of his objective, and steeling his resolve.
“Want to watch for a bit with me? We can go over anything you've got questions about."
