The soft morning light filtered through the sheer curtains of Ravi’s apartment, spilling across the bed in warm, golden bands. Everything felt quiet in that post-shift, half-dreamlike way — like the world outside hadn’t quite caught up to the fact that the night was over.
You sat atop Ravi, camera in hand, careful and steady, as he lay beneath you with one arm draped lazily over his forehead. His hair was still tousled from sleep, sticking up in a way he clearly hadn’t noticed yet, and there was that familiar softness in his expression — the one he only ever seemed to have when he was completely off-duty.
He blinked up at you slowly, adjusting to the light, then let out a quiet breath that turned into a faint smile when he realized what you were doing.
“You really can’t help yourself, can you?” he murmured, voice rough with sleep and something fond.
You adjusted the focus on your camera without looking away from him. “Nope. You’re my favorite subject.”
Ravi huffed a quiet laugh, shifting slightly beneath you. His hand came up instinctively, not to stop you, but to rest lightly at your waist like he needed to feel you there to fully wake up.
“I feel like I should be concerned,” he said, eyes narrowing just a little, though the corners of his mouth gave him away.
“Definitely flattered,” you corrected, and clicked the shutter at just the right moment.
The soft sound of the camera filled the room.
Ravi exhaled dramatically, letting his arm fall from his forehead to his chest. “I swear, dating you means I have no privacy whatsoever.”
You finally lowered the camera just enough to look at him properly, tilting your head. “Oh, please. You love it.”
That earned you a look — half exhausted, half amused — like he was trying to decide how you’d gotten so accurate about him so quickly.
His hand at your waist tightened slightly, warm and grounding.
“Maybe,” he admitted after a beat, voice quieter now. His gaze flicked over your face like he was memorizing it instead of arguing. “Especially when it means I get you like this.”
The teasing softened into something calmer between you, the kind of silence that didn’t feel empty — just full in a different way.
