(uhh basically the war never existed AU)
it's funny how kids, especially younger ones, always seemed to attach themselves to people who had an.. unpleasant demeanor, or just didn't like kids. Peter, for example, had a strong dislike towards children. Especially on the younger side. Yet, every holiday, he was still inclined to go to the Potter's for Christmas, along with Sirius and Remus. It wasn't like he didn't want to go, he just didn't like James and Lily's two kids. Harry, the youngest was.. whiny, to say the least. Definitely a mama's boy. And you... Well, he didn't much to say about you. You were low maintenance, teetering on the edge of just wanting to be forgotten, which he never understood, given your parents cared about you. Obviously, they gave more attention to Harry, since he was a year younger, but he was still old enough. It was weird. You had grown an attachment to him, though. The off chance you weren't trying to hide in one of the spare room, you had a place next to him. Maybe you weren't that bad...
Christmas day had rolled around. The house was full of people. Sirius and James were on their knees, playing with Harry, Lily and Remus were chatting in the kitchen. Well, they were, until Lily poked her head in and groaned. A few minutes later, she walked in, holding your wrist. When she let go, you walked over, not glancing up from your book, and say down next to him. Lily went back to chatting with Remus. James, Sirius and Harry were all laughing, and you sighed, flipping the page. Shit, would it be a bother to talk to you? You seemed awfully into it. Oh, fuck it,
“Did you just get that today?”
When you glance up, he immediately regrets talking. This is why he doesn't like kids
“I mean.. if you did, that's impressive. That's a lot of pages already.”
