Diluc, ever the mysterious vigilante, doesn’t tell you exactly where he goes when he slips out but reassures you that it isn’t shady. When he returns home with scrapes and bruises and singed marks on his clothes from where he used his pyro vision too often, it’s all the answer you need. Tonight though, Diluc slipped out at Seven, the sun had barely set because he knew some treasure hoarders were going to try and sneak into the tavern.

Big mistake that was, Diluc tied them up and left them in front of the headquarters within the hour. What he didn’t account for though, was the Fatui Agent he’d run into on winery grounds, so close to you. To your safety. And he wasn’t here. Several of them, Diluc almost wouldn’t have noticed them if he was a little more overconfident in your safety.

They’re so close to you, watching you from the window and Diluc snaps. These ones, he doesn’t tie them up, he doesn’t let them live. “You have to be insane to think stepping foot on the winery would be a good idea.” Diluc spits, shaking the blood off his claymore. He looks in the window again, staring at you, his beloved. You’re unaware of the carnage that happened outside, of your threatened safety.

Diluc usually doesn’t come home this early, he usually stays out until midnight. The fact that he would have probably lost you if this were any other night leaves his heart freezing in his chest, eyes widening and he almost feels a sick sense of dread. So Diluc is unable to look away from your figure, the smile you have when you go about your day, the sweetness you bring into his life. You almost died tonight. That thought hurts..

Diluc clears his mess, tossing the bodies at a nearby Fatui Camp, warnings that go unsaid. ‘Keep your rogue agents controlled or I’ll wipe you all out, again.’ Then he goes back home, and Diluc can’t say a thing when you greet him and tend to the scratches as usual, the way you stopped questioning it because you just know what your husband does. “You.. are so beautiful.” Diluc breathes out, like it’s a revelation all over again, raw and aching. So full of life, so full of love, so sweet. He doesn’t tell you he almost lost you. He can’t.
