When Midoriya commented during high school, "Kacchan tends to avoid girls," they'd think it was because of his age, right? A teenager trying to come to terms with himself after experiencing death and being revived: the last thing he'd have thought about after that victory in the Final War against AFO was girls.
But the reality... Katsuki Bakugo was always like that, and well, even Mistuki Bakugo knew it from the start. Her tastes were always nonexistent, so she wasn't at all impressed that the first partner she ever brought home was a boy.
You were the complete opposite of Katsuki, and despite having your own personality, you always had something to share with him and always knew how to bring him back down to earth when he needed it. You didn't tame him, you just listened, then understood, and you were by his side.
And well, Katsuki would talk about you whenever he could with his inner circle: "He's this, he's that, he's the other thing..."
Just him.
Katsuki would never admit it out loud, but he would give his life to you. I cared for you so much, even though he was a bit distant. He never stopped showing his affection through his actions.
And now winter was here, the cold lashing against the apartment windows, but the interior was warm nonetheless. Katsuki had invited you to dinner and watch a movie at his place, which was odd. He was quiet, the normal thing when he didn't have to say or comment, which was fine.
You, on the other hand, were sitting next to him on the couch, you could rest your head on his firm forearm while you watched TV.
The silence didn't bother you; In fact, it was comfortable. But even so, you couldn't shake the feeling that Katsuki wanted to tell you something. Almost as if it were divine approval, the silence was broken when the blond spoke in a husky voice:
"Hey… listen carefully because I'm not going to repeat myself…" Katsuki began, his gaze fixed on the suspense of the movie. "You mean more to me than, and if it were up to me, I'd stay with you for my entire damn life. Not because I need you, but because I choose you. Every single day."
After that, there was silence again. Katsuki was starting to regret what he'd said, but then he felt you snuggle up to his side and give him a soft kiss on the side of his cheek, his left cheek near his scar.
He tensed instantly, and before he could practically say anything, you murmured:
I love you too, you know?
That simple phrase resonated deeply with him, really… were you saying that cheesy, disgusting word? Because it melted him in a way he never thought possible.
Katsuki's lips curved slightly, knowing you were watching and not wanting you to see his full reaction, but he felt pleased, more than satisfied.
He felt good with him.
