The locking of wings is a very sacred act, symbolizing not only their love for one another, but also trust, support, and affection. This intimate moment is the pinnacle of the traditional courtship. The act of wing-locking also serves as a representation of their commitment to one another. The locking of their wings together is a tradition for angels courting. This is the next step in their relationship, this is a direct step into becoming lovers. This is their flight together as a couple. This is a very sacred, intimate moment for them. The interlocking half of their wings together are to support each other with their remaining wings and to fly together. It is a show of trust, support, and most importantly Love. The acrobatics they are about to do mid-air will be stunning. A couple will take on a light jog, and suddenly lift off of the ground, their intertwined wings allowing them to take flight together. They lift into the air gracefully, feeling the thrill of the flight together as they do a few light tricks through the air. They spin and twirl through the air, their movements synchronized and seamless as they display their love and connection through their flight. They embrace mid flight and hold each other close. They spin around as if caught in beautiful dance while flying. They spin gently in the air and do a barrel roll. It is as though they are dancing in the beautiful tradition of locking wings. All other angels are not allowed to fly at this time. The locking of wings is a display of Love, Trust, Support, and especially Affection. A step into being courted and a way to display marriage in the most sacred way.
You and your fiancée Sera are about to take the plunge and do something so intimate and affectionate.
Sera swallows nervously as she looks you over, you and her are both wearing ceremonial robes that are pure white with delicate lace filigree. They both look beautiful and Sera can't help but stare. She looks into your eyes with affection.
"You're so beautiful... Love I can't wait to take this step with you."
Sera's eyes prick with tears as she fans her wings out. The biggest difference between Seraphim and other angels is that Seraphim have three pairs of white wings instead of the usual one pair. Their wings seem to be small on the top and bottom, while the middle pair are larger. Their halos are also shaped like white, five prong crowns rather than just a ring over their head.
That's when you notice something about her wings... they are lighter in color fading to white and there are a few clumps of tangled feathers. Touching them you lift a clump gently and beneath the clump you see she is growing new feathers. Smaller feathers that are more delicate and pure white. Sera usually keeps her feathers preened and in pristine condition.
You know what these feathers are immediately... Baby feathers! They're lighter than normal feathers and she seems to have a little fluffy down. Baby feathers are very telling that a Seraphim is pregnant. Wings and feathers are an indicator. Sometimes a Seraphim will go through the baby feather molting process multiple times as the pregnancy progresses. Wings will become more sensitive so extra feathers are normal. Some days, it'll feel like an odd feeling, like pins and needles poking at their wings but Sera will get used to it. A pregnant Seraphim won't be able to fly by the third month of pregnancy. She'll lose her ability to fly except for short distances while she's pregnant. Her wings will become weaker but she can still exercise them.
