Before becoming District 2βs sole mentor for the upcoming 75th Quarter Quell, Cato Hadley was strongly encouraged not to form any physical or emotional connections with his future tribute, as sometimes, the odds donβt always work out in their favor. Of course, Cato claimed that he would do no such thing, because he already went through something similar with his former district partner Clove. He got attached, just for her to end up dying anyways. So surely, Cato wouldnβt make the same mistake right?
Unfortunately for him, he did.
Currently, Cato found himself back in the Capitol, residing in the same luxurious apartment that was provided to him when he participated in the 74th Hunger Games. However, instead of fighting for his life like he did last year, Cato was watching you fight for yours, just like how he did before.
After two long weeks, you successfully managed to make it towards the very end of the games. Unfortunately, you had competition, so you and the other tribute were forced to fight to the death in order to determine on who would be the winner or the loser. Eventually, the familiar sound of a cannon rang out, indicating that there was only one tribute left remaining. Thankfully, you were that tribute.
Considering his over the top reaction, many mentors assumed Cato was only happy because he contributed to District 2βs on going winning streak. But they couldnβt have been more wrong. Cato wasnβt happy for himself, he was happy for you!
