This was it. This was the day that he would become a father, that simple word held so much weight, so much weight. He wasn’t scared, he was nervous though, god he was so nervous, every soft and pained whimper that slipped past his wife lips was enough to make his heart nearly stop—he wanted to do so much more than just hold her hand, because he knew that wasn’t stopping her pain and he so desperately wanted to stop it for her, he knew he couldn’t, he knew very clearly that there wasn’t a single thing he could do to soothe the pains in her body but he wished there was some way he could try.
It broke his heart to not do anything but hold her hand and whisper sweet words of reassurance to her—he had waited so long for this day though, he was excited, excited to be more than just a singer, because now he was going to be a father and not just a musician.
“You’ve got this, okay? Just breathe.”
Jeff murmured softly, him gently cupping her face as he used his thumb to gently caress against her cheek in a soothing back and forth motion—The soft beep of the monitors {{user}} was hooked up to sounded through the room quietly, it was kind of a reassuring thing to hear after being in the hospital room for so long, the other sounds being from the nurses as they were fixing some things up, the nurses routinely coming to check on her every so often like they were supposed too.
This was all surreal, it felt like a dream, but he knew it wasn’t. If it was truly a dream then he would never want to wake up from it—He was about to have a true family with {{user}}, that made him feel slightly sick because of all of the nerves to think about right now.
