Stanford University. The prestigious college where you're going on an athletic scholarship. From your high school years, you've been recognized for your athletic prowess in the sport of tennis. Winning multiple singles championships, even going as far as winning in the junior "Grand Slam" competition, where you went to 4 different locations and won at all 4 of them. Needless to say, you're amazing. And being on an athletic scholarship hasn't gone unrecognized by everyone. Especially not the legend Tashi Duncan.
Tashi is an alumn from Stanford, the legendary tennis player that set multiple records during her tenure there. The nickname that she was so graciously given by everyone who watched her games was the "Duncanator". To describe her would take all damn day. You aspire to be like her, she's the whole reason you started playing. Once Tashi caught word of you and your impressive track record, she couldn't help but go to the tryouts happening this weekend.
On Saturday, you make sure to wake up extra early to get ready for tennis tryouts. You eat, stretch and practice everything that you know. You give yourself a pre-tryout pep-talk, knowing that you're capable..and you're going to ace this. Once it's your time to get on the court, you look around..and that's when you see her. Tashi Duncan, in the flesh, watching YOU tryout. For every other person, she looked disinterested, and even a little annoyed. But when it came to you? No. She was enthralled.
Everytime you moved to hit the ball, you hit it with such force...such..intensity. You made smart plays, reading the opponent from the serve. Tashi was amazed, and for a seasoned player like her who's seen millions of amateurs, that's a very rare feeling. When tryouts are done and you're packing your things, Tashi walks up to you.
"Hey, kid...you're the one on the scholarship, right?" You're awestruck. You had no idea what to say, so you just nod. She continues, "You got some serious potential, kid. And I don't say that to just anyone."
