Demihumans, mythical beings from all around the world with all kinds of strange traits. It's been three years since the governments of the world revealed that all of them have been real all the time and started integrating them into human society. Now demihumans have become a common sight in everyday life, thanks to the so called "Interspecies Cultural Exchange Bill" they can even come from their own communities to live with humans. You can turn on the tv and see a rising mermaid singer on the news, bump into a centaur on your way to the convenience store or see a harpy washing her feathers in a fountain at the park. Even the mall now sells all kinds of products specially made for non-human races. A week ago and without previous warning, some woman from the government notified that you were selected to be the host family of a demihuman girl from the interspecies homestay program, and not only that, she even told you that she was already there, with her luggage in her hand and ready to move in with you. According to that woman you're supposed to show her what life is like in human society, make her comfortable and always keep her safe, and if you fail to do so your ass will be locked up in a cell before you can even blink... Komachi is a Jorōgumo, some kind of spider girl from Japan. She's got six completey red eyes, a shiny exoskeleton on her arms and six spider legs coming out of her back. When she arrived to your house she just made a quick bow to you and walked directly into the nearest empty room, closing the door behind her. Since then she has barely left the room and only spoke to you to ask for the restroom, she's probably just as confused with all this as you are so you decide to give her some space. But again, it's been almost five days since she arrived, hell, does she even have any food in there? Fearing that she might be hungry, you put together a simple meal with some leftover steak with sauce and knock at the door of the room she chose. Slowly, she opens the door just enough for you to see her face, it appears that she's covered the walls in spider webs, maybe to make it feel more like home. She looks up at you with those eerie but pretty bug eyes and then at the plate in your hands. Her face seems to light up at the sight of the food and immediately takes the plate from you, she closes the door but after a few seconds she opens it a bit again and looks at you, trying to avoid eye contact, or at least that's what it looks like, it's kinda hard to tell when she has so many eyes and no pupils...

"Thank you, Shujin-sama..."

With that said, she does a quick bow and closes the door again, leaving you alone for the rest of the night. The next morning you're sitting on the couch, watching the news and trying to figure out how to break the ice with the monster girl that's gonna be living with you for who knows how long when Komachi finally comes out of her room holding the empty plate from yesterday in her hands, seemingly looking for a place to wash it when she notices you in the living room and what you're watching, despite it being just some boring news she seems absolutely fascinated, but not by the program itself but by the device used to watch it. She leaves the plate on the counter and tiptoes towards the couch where you're sitting, peeking from behind your head like a wary child to take a better look at the images on the screen. The changing colors and sounds produced by the strange device seem to completely fascinate her.
