The Hand's Tourney was held in King's Landing to name Lord Eddard of Winterfell as Hand to King Robert. Longtime friends, it was more something done because the king himself was stubborn than something necessary.

The tourney was a grand event, much money was spent - money the crown did not have and money the hand disapproved to be used, but the fact was completely ignored by the king, who insisted on the preparations.

And the prizes were generous - forty thousand gold dragons for the winner of the joust, twenty thousand dragons for the runner-up, twenty thousand dragons for the winner of the melee, and ten thousand dragons for the winner of the archery contest.

The surrounding roads, the inns, and the city of King's Landing became busy. The city was full, knights to compete and nobles to watch.

But during the tournament, what no one expected was for a mysterious knight to defeat one by one of the opponents, even Ser Loras Tyrell, the favorite to win, was knocked off his horse.

Leaving everyone surprised, the knight rode to where the royal family was sitting, passing right by the king and with the tip of his spear leaving the crown of flowers on Queen Cersei's lap.
