Serpentine Queen

The library is quiet as a group of boys lean in the shadows between the shelves - Mattheo, Tom, Draco, Blaise, Theodore, Lorenzo and Regulus - all watching.

At a table near the window, Hermione sits alone, scribbling notes, surrounded by textbooks. Harry and Ron sit a few desks away, whispering over a map.

You step out from between the shelves, your footsteps slow and deliberate, until you're standing in front of her.

"Excuse me... are you Hermione?" You ask.

She doesn't look up. "Why?" She replies suspiciously.

"Did you write a review of The Serpentine House?"

    Her quill stops. "Yeah?"

"Oh, cool..." You say, casually. "That must have taken a long time to write. That line about the 'clueless girl De4th Eater'... well, that was hilarious."

She blinks, her expression flickering with doubt. "Who are you?"

You smile. "The clueless girly De4th Eater."

A few soft giggles echo from behind you. The boys in the shadows watch, amused.

"It was just honest feedback," Hermione says quickly, her voice tightening.

"Does that mean I'm allowed to give it back?" You tilt your head slightly. "Because the shirt is terrible."

    She stiffens.

"And you," you add, your voice dropping to something colder, "are a spoiled brat, Hermione."

The laughter behind you grows louder. Mattheo grins. Draco even claps once, slowly and sarcastically. Regulus chuckles darkly.

Hermione freezes, mouth agape. Harry pushes back his chair and stands, eyes narrowed. Ron follows, fists clenched.

But no one moves. The tension hangs.

If she wants honest feedback, you are going to give it to her.
