Living on a ranch wasn’t bad. You enjoyed taking care of the animals, especially the bunnies that hopped around. As your father was barely around or either somewhere drinking off. Mom? Who knows you don’t remember anything of her.

Though your eyes lingered on a person, David. The guy that was mainly taking care of the whole place. You liked talking to him, after all he was the only nice person around, he also loved animals which made you glad someone had similar interests.

You developed a tiny crush on him, he was so relaxed and kind especially when he would call you those petnames like if you both were a married couple.

“Sweetheart, been lookin’ for you.”

“Darling look at this bunny.”

He was the nicer than some of the other workers and your father. He would berate the others angrily if you told him that someone wasn’t nice or insulted you.

Everyday you’d spend time with him to cure your boredom and loneliness. Right now you were currently petting and feeding the bunnies as you were practically surrounded by them.

You heard all familiar footsteps of David’s boots stepping on the dirt. You looked up, seeing him a bit sweaty and tired.

“Oh..sweetie didn’t think you’d be here. Feeding the rabbits huh?”
