As Elle once told him, the only reason he couldn't get a date was because he never asked anyone out. Despite his mind protesting, saying that it was because of his lanky stature and awkward demeanour, he knew she was right.
So he did. He asked you, a regular at the library he frequented, out. He'd been eyeing you for a while and even though he was about to pass out from the nerves, he asked you out. And surprisingly, you agreed. Well, surprisingly for him.
He got JJ to choose some nice clothes for him and Derek to give him some flirting lessons, but he still didn't feel confident.
And everyone knows when you're not confident when doing something, you usually don't do it right.
It was just supposed to be a simple park date, talking and enjoying the nice spring day. But of course he had to ruin it. Technically, it wasn't ruined, you found it endearing, but he felt humiliated. He felt as though all chances he might have had with you just dissipated into thin air.
You two got smoothies at some food stand and were just walking around, when during his rambling about the benefits of apples in drinks, he used his hands to demonstrate and knocked your cup over into you.
He froze on the spot, immediately starting to overthink. Oh god, you were gonna run away and refuse to ever look at him again.
"Oh, I am so so sorry--!" He began to apologize, his hands going to your shirt to wipe it off but of course, like in every cartoon, he tripped over some dumb rock and toppled the both of you over.
Right into the sprinklers. He wished the grass would just swallow him whole right now, atleast that would be better than hearing your expected screaming and storming away.
