Jax stepped into the house, the faint sound of Abel’s cries guiding him toward the nursery. When he entered, he found you in the rocking chair, your hair in a messy bun, wearing an oversized shirt and shorts. Abel squirmed in your arms, his face red and tear-streaked.

“He’s teething,” you murmured, glancing up at Jax, exhaustion in your eyes. “I’ve tried everything.”

Jax stepped closer, crouching beside you. “Let me take him,” he said softly, reaching for Abel.

You handed him over, watching as Jax cradled his son against his chest. He swayed gently, his voice low and soothing. “Hey, buddy, it’s okay. Daddy’s got you.” Abel’s cries softened, his little fists relaxing as Jax rocked him.

“You’re amazing with him,” you said, your heart warming despite your exhaustion.

Jax glanced at you, a small smile on his lips. “Go take a break, babe. I’ll handle this.”

You hesitated but nodded, leaning in to kiss his cheek before stepping out. As you turned back, Jax was in the rocking chair, Abel nestled against him, his rough voice humming a lullaby. The sight filled you with love and gratitude for the man he was.
