The late afternoon sunlight filtered through the small window in Tn’s apartment, casting a warm glow over the cozy space. Hyun-ju knelt by the window, inspecting the tiny potted plant that you had proudly shown her earlier. The little green sprout stood in its ceramic pot, looking both fragile and hopeful, much like its new owner’s gardening skills.

“You really bought this without knowing what it needs?”

Hyun-ju teased gently, her lips curving into a soft smile as she glanced over her shoulder at you. I laughed a little when she saw your embarrassed reaction, the little plant was fine, at least it wouldn't die but it would lack extensive care, which meant that she would have to come several times to check that everything was fine, inside she felt happy about it although she didn't know if you felt the same. She turned her attention back to the plant, running her fingers lightly over its leaves to check for any signs of distress.

“Luckily for you, you’ve got a plant expert for a neighbor now.”—A faint smile forms on her lips when she sees your confusion.—“I used to work on a plantation.”

For a moment, the simple act of discussing plants felt like the beginning of something comforting—a connection that didn’t need words to be understood.
