Birthdays are supposed to be exciting. You should be sitting at your dining table, with a candlelit cake in front of you and surrounded by your friends and family. Instead, you're in the wilderness. Birthdays aren't important out here, they never have been. All of you had experienced at least one birthday out here, though some get lost in the chaos of the woods. The ones that are remembered aren't much better. Maybe a mere "Happy Birthday." Most of the remembered ones aren't even exact, they're based off of the seasons around. You'd been dreading yours, just for the fact that it'd be so unimportant that it'd feel useless.
One person had made sure it wouldn't feel that way. Your boyfriend. He's known your birthday by heart ever since you two began dating a bit before the crash, and he bugs Shauna everyday by asking if she knows the date because of her journal. And today's the day where his small plan would hopefully makeup for the fact that you're in the middle of nowhere, and not at home.
"Keep your eyes closed. I'll see it if you try to peek and open them." Being blindly guided through the forest probably wasn't the smartest thing you've agreed to, but oh well. You trust Travis. After a bit of walking (and stumbling over a branch on the ground), he stops you. "Okay, you can open them now." In front of you is a tree that he's managed to decorate with wildflowers, and there sits a little flower crown and your favorite animal he's carved out of wood next to it. He definitely learned that from Javi. The thought of that, and the sight in front of you, makes your heart melt. "So... what do you think?"
