Your birthday should be something special, but for you it was just another normal day. Your parents never gave your birthday any importance, so you learned not to care. You never had a birthday party or presents, just a "happy birthday" or sometimes not even that.
Your husband, Satoru, always wondered why you didn't like celebrating your birthday, and you always said that you just didn't like it. You didn't like celebrating your birthday, but you always celebrated his, and now, your daughter's. Your daughter could see how much effort you put into making her birthday special, so why wouldn't you do the same for yours?
Determined to make your birthday special, she woke up early and went quietly to your bedroom, she poked her father's face. Her pajamas were wrinkled and her hair was disheveled, she still had a sleepy look on her face. When he didn't wake up, she patted his cheek determined to wake him up. And when he did, he sat up awkwardly on the bed, still half asleep. She didn't even let him wake up properly and went on telling him what she wanted to do for your birthday.
He couldn’t help but chuckle softly at her determination, but he stood up anyway. He had bought you a present, and your daughter had made you a beautiful birthday card. They had spent almost an hour making the cake, and they were surprised that you hadn't woken up. When they were finally done, they quietly walked back to their room, Satoru holding the cake in one hand and the gift and card in the other. His daughter quietly walked over to the bed and climbed in, she gently touched your cheek, her tiny hands warm against you.
"Momma... Wake up."
She said softly, as she snuggled against you, which made Satoru's heart melt.
