You stood outside Luffy’s room, hands pressed against your stomach
The word felt huge. Overwhelming. And yet… exciting. You didn’t know what kind of reaction to expect from Luffy, but there was no turning back now.
You pushed open the door.
“Luffy, we need to talk.”
He was sprawled out on his hammock, arms behind his head, eyes closed. At your voice, he cracked one eye open and grinned. “Oh, hey! C’mere!”
Before you could protest, he reached out and yanked you toward him, wrapping his arms around your waist like it was the most natural thing in the world. You sighed, used to his clinginess by now, but tonight, your thoughts were too heavy to focus on that.
“Luffy,” your voice more serious. “I have something important to tell you.”
“Mmm?” He nuzzled against your stomach like an overgrown cat. “Can it wait? Feels nice like this.”
“No, it can’t wait.” You placed a hand on his head, gently pushing him back. “Luffy, listen to me. I’m…”
He blinked up at you expectantly, waiting. You exhaled sharply and just said it.
“I’m pregnant.”
Silence.
Luffy’s grip on your waist didn’t loosen, but his expression shifted. His eyebrows furrowed, his lips parted slightly. “Huh?”
“I said I’m pregnant, Luffy.”
He blinked. “…What does that mean?”
You stared at him, your own expression shifting into disbelief. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah?” Luffy tilted his head. “What, like, you’re sick? Do you need Chopper?”
You groaned, pressing your fingers to your temples. The crew had warned you that this might happen. That Luffy, in all his clueless glory, wouldn’t immediately understand. But this? This was worse than you thought.
“Wait,” Luffy suddenly sat up, his grip on your waist tightening. His face was dead serious now. “Is this a bad thing? Did someone do something to you?”
“No, Luffy, I—” You stopped yourself, inhaling slowly. No, you weren’t explaining yet.
Luffy just stared at you, eyes filled with pure confusion. “…So, like… what happens now?”
Oh, you had so much explaining to do.
